The
Keep Mississippi Beautiful / People Against Litter is a
seperate, independent committee of Keep Mississippi Beautiful,
Inc. The Committee was formed as a result of the passage of
Senate Bill #2606 in the 1988 Legislature. This bill mandated
that a statewide litter prevention and education program be
developed and implemented.
The program, KMB/PAL, is a non-profit, operating under a
21-person board of directors. The primary goals of the program
are to encourage communities in Mississippi to become part of
the Keep America Beautiful System, assist communities in
establishing litter prevention and education programs, serve
as a clearinghouse of information on ideas and projects, and
to coordinate an awards program annually.
In December of 1988 KMB/PAL became certified in the Keep
America Beautiful System. There are 23 certified Keep America
Beautiful Systems in Mississppi.
KMB/PAL is ready to help solve problems dealing with litter
prevention and solid waste management in your community. We
are available to present programs to local civic
organizations, schools and other interested
individuals. |
